Stir Fried Ant's egg with Vermicelli in Laos

Not just some Ant's egg, It's really  the whole thing ... larva and pupa are served and also some dead ant (wings or without) there .

The ants  have  to be a red one (มดแดง - Mod-Dang -TH)  and reside only as a big hive on Mango trees (their favorite!) . Some called it as a weaver ant becoz they use some threads weaves big leaves together to create a hive or  a habitat .

To pick that ...needs a commando who brave enough  to cut down the big hive  and  quickly put that to  a bic bucket of water which drown them all . But not before several desperate bites on body of the picker.

This dish considers a highly delicacy in Thailand and Laos . I bought this from a vendor just outside Laos Immigration office last week while crossing to Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.

It's taste better than the look .
