About two weeks ago ,there are less and less westerner in Laos than usual of this time of the year. I wonder why and found an interesting piece of news here:
DOW JONES NEWSWIRES reports that the Civil unrest in Thailand and travel disruptions due to the Iceland volcano have put pressure on Priceline.com Inc.'s (PCLN) international bookings of both Agoda and Booking.com which focused on Asian online booking
Jeff Boyd , the Chief Executive of the Priceline.com noted that civil unrest in Thailand had forced Priceline's Thai operations to relocate it offices. The political unrest had impacted bookings at Priceline's Booking.com and its Asian-focused Agoda.com Web sites, he said.
"Business for Bangkok and other Thai destinations is under pressure at both Agoda and Booking.com," Boyd said.
Last week , a tour operator in Phonesawanh told us less traveler visits there due to bangkok's airport is the main international hub in this region. When traveller changed their mind then Laos tourism suffers too.
